HI, i'm NIKKI AN ART THERAPIST OPERATING IN

STRIDE LILYFIELD, HURSTVILLE AND MAROUBRA …

Did you know that you or your plan manager can access Art Therapy under the improved daily living therapeutic supports section of the NDIS? We have had the great pleasure of helping lots of different NDIS participants more towards their goals.

In stride, I offer 1-hour art therapy sessions for improved mental well-being.

If you are interested in using your NDIS package to access art therapy a service agreement that includes your specific NDIS goals is an important way to start addressing these goals together. This enables the art therapist to provide you with an appropriate experience in an art therapy studio and write a report for your NDIS review. If you wish to use your NDIS package for art therapy, click here for a referral form for NDIS art therapy at Stride and send it to ndis@stride.com.au.

Here’s what to expect in art therapy:

First, we focus on what’s on your mind, secondly I assist you to make some art and finally we talk about your artwork together.

Focusing on what’s on your mind - At the start of the session, we talk about any thoughts or feelings you have at that moment.

Art making - There is a lot of different types of art materials available for you to use. It’s my job to make sure that you have the art materials you want. Paint, clay, pencils or whatever you see that you would like to work with is yours. What feels good, what feels yucky? It is important to remember that I’m not an art teacher and we use the art materials to tap into feelings and they can be messy, funny, sad, nostalgic and sometimes all of the above.

Together we look at the artwork -

We set a time limit on the art making so we can look at the art work together. Tell me about your experience…Did you like making it? Or was it annoying and frustrating? We look at it together not in judgement but to unpack the many feelings you may have felt together.

If you or your support coordinator would like any more information or would like to set up a time to chat about how you could use art therapy to reach your NDIS goals please email me Nikki Slack at Nicola.Slack@Stride.com.au. The spaces are located in Lilyfield, Hurstville And Maroubra in Sydney.
